Boz Boorer can rightfully be described as being at the heart of the British music scene. This guitarist and producer is known to indie rock fans across the world as a founding member of legendary new wave rockabilly band, The Polecats, and also as co-writer, guitarist and musical director over the past 20 years with former The Smiths frontman, Morrissey. On top of this he also produces promising indie newcomers in his studio in Portugal and continues to work with long-time companions like Edwyn Collins, Adam Ant and many others.
Slippery Forces“ was recorded in Boz’s Portugal studio and is a first taste of his new solo album, Some Of The Parts, which will be released in June 2012. The single came about as spontaneously as the decision to work with a Viennese label. Boz explains: “A fellow by the name of Louie Lawent asked if he could send me some lyrics to look at, and one summer’s day in Portugal I started fooling around with them to see if a melody would stick. I had Charlie Browne’s old acoustic – which was tuned down a whole tone – if it hadn’t been, the melody would never have come out. My daughter, Pearl, sang the backing vocals. It’s meant to be some sort of Mott The Hoople/glam type of song.”
Slippery Forces is being released alongside 4 remixes produced by Affine Records’ Cid Rim, the British composer Christopher Chaplin, electropop label mate Lovecat, and the newly formed Konsorten TM. Links:
