We had a chance to chat
to Lyn Jeffs, the awesome drummer from Ingested.
Who... IF you had gone to the Hellfire Festival, you
would know alllllll about!
How is 2009 treating you guys?
Really Well! We've had a great year so far, the release of our debut
album, music video, some great shows across the UK and the
announcement of our European tour in 2010 with The Black Dahlia
Murder. We all feel that we're in a good place right now.
Who in the band has the most annoying habit?
Well there are some things that annoy me from the boys but I think
they would all agree that I have the most annoying habit of sweating
loads during a show which causes my stage clothes to stink. On one
off shows it isn't much of a problem but when you're on tour for a
few weeks with only select times where you can't get to the
laundrette then I'm sure you can imagine to what degree the stench
excels to.
Any surprises coming up for your fans?
Well we've got a few things planned for the Bonecrusher Tour in
January, I wont reveal anything quite yet, but for anyone who's seen
us live before and enjoyed it, I think I'm safe to say that they
will love us in 2010!
Where would you most like to play a gig...?
Japan! Playing the far-east has always been a personal goal for me,
I've heard that they have the most insane crowds out
there and I think I would just enjoy the culture shock. Sometimes
it's nice to play in countries where you feel completely out
of your comfort zone.
...and if you could have anyone to support you at that gig, who
would it
be?
I think me and our guitarist Sam would agree that having Prince on
the show would be pretty special haha! But if I'm speaking
for the whole band I can imagine that we would all agree on playing
with Nile and Slayer. Although if they were supporting us I
don't think there would be many people there for when we play haha.
Are you Myspace whores? Or have you been sucked into the world of
Twitter!
I don't think we have ever been a Myspace-band, I mean, we like our
page to look nice and we do chat to a lot of people
through Myspace which is awesome, and for finding new bands its
definitely the place to go but we're not Myspace whores
who sit on there all day long posting bulletins. As for Twitter,
we've only just started using that over the past few months,
again it seems like a great tool for announcements and networking.
Which do you think is the best social networking site for bands?
Myspace definitely, just for the fact that you can completely
personalize your page with design and every band on the
planet is on there already so it just makes sense to use that as the
main website for us.
What's the strangest thing a fan has ever said to you?
It's always very strange, but flattering for us when people tell us
we're they're favourite band. That really feels strange, but amazing
of course. Otherwise,
we once met a guy who wanted to tell us all about the disturbed
thoughts he had, they were pretty fucked up.. maybe we should have
reported that guy...
Speaking of fans... Where do you think you pull the best crowd?
Well last night we played a headline show in Exeter and that's
probably the best crowd we've ever had! Every time we
play there its awesome, best turnouts, best people, best pits! And
its probably the only place where you will see a true mix
of people into metal, the amount of diversity there is awesome, I
mean there was people wearing anything from Dragonforce
& Halloween shirts to Whitechapel and Cock and Ball Torture shirts,
but they were all banging there heads to every band no
matter what style of music, and that's exactly how the scene should
be!
Who would you least like
to get stuck in a lift with? (Fred Durst has
been taken!)
Probably Brian 'Head' ex-Korn, I can't imagine him being a bag of
laughs.
Any chance of touring down south soon?
Well apart from the UK leg of Bonecrusher which hits London &
Bristol in February, I think after that we are looking to do
a full UK tour sometime, we haven't even really thought about that,
but of course there will Southern England dates aplenty!
