After announcing their new album release, Jack Rabbit Slim gave us some of their time to answer a few questions...

How is 2010 going so far for Jack Rabbit Slim?
2010 kicked of great for us, we were asked by DAISY LOWE to play her 21st birthday party! We'd met Daisy before xmas at a industry wedding we were playing at and she loved us so much , she wanted us as the band for her celebrations. It was an amazing night, with a who's who kinda guest list and everyone danced their socks off. All the guests were real complimentary and nice to chat to, even to us council estate lads with greasy hair!!
Our album's also been released & the Launch gig was a sell out at Soho's Madame Jojos ...another top night!! We've been lucky that the new album's been received so well and we're out n about pushing it where we can!

Would you please tell us a bit about your new album?
The new album is our 4th on Western Star, but it's the 1st with a lean much more to Indie and alternative. We've played on the Rockabilly circuit for 4 years now and been half way round the world playing all over the uk, europe and mainly the west coast of the u.s.a, but in the last year we've managed to get into more alternative venues and take our brand of music to a wider audience. This is why we took the plunge and et our creative juices flow on this latest album hoping to reach out to those with a broad taste in music. We'd love to be a bridge between popular music and rockabilly, allowing allcomers to sample all styles freely without prejudice... pop lovers can discover what rockabilly is about & the rockin crowd get a taste of what's on offer elsewhere.

Do you have your own favorite track?

It's hard to single out just one, but i love the title track for its 60's/pulp feel, Shake-rag is pure blues at it's most boppinest , everyday's gonna be like yesterday reminds me of hot sunny days (we haven't seen many of them for ages), Skin is just sleazy filth ...nice! and High and mighty has a story to tell, that's abit to the point!

What/who has been your influence for the album?
We've drawn from alot of influences on the album, our rockabilly roots are obvious throughout but we've listened to alot of early 90's Morrissey, Pulp, Richard Hawley,The Sonics,The Cramps and watched alot of porn too (only for research purposes!)

Are you looking forward to touring?

We love gigging, and meeting loads of new friends, it's what making music is all about!

Where are you looking forward to going most?
We're playing a load of new venues in places we've never appeared in, so they'll be the one's we'll look forward to...We play Ireland for the 1st time soon, so that'll be fun, and we may be off to Moscow later in the year...bring it on!

Do you have a favorite venue?

Most of the London gigs are our faves, but the big festivals are something special . Also Europe and the U.S, the audiences go wild out there!

If you could play absolutely anywhere, where would you go?...
Glastonbury is something we'd love to play , so many people all in one space ! Anywhere in the world ...maybe Japan!

And what would you be most likely to forget?
So far on our travels we've been pretty good at remembering stuff like passports etc ...i'm like dad / headmaster of the band and make sure everyone has their clean undies!!

What is a must have for when you're on tour...doughnuts?

Apart from sleep...Jack Daniels, Ginsters, Mc Donalds and a good sound system.

Who's got the most annoying habit in the band?

The snoring can be a problem ..but i think we're all as guilty as the next person , but it's never me ..NOT !

Who would you least like to get stuck in a lift with?

Gordon Brown!! I think we'd end up kicking his head in!

Anything you would like to add, or say to your fans?
Just big thanks to everyone whose supported us, if you haven't seen us yet, check us out on myspace, come along and buy a cd!
STAY SLEAZY!
