We had a chat to Luke from the awesome L-Mo, we recently reviewed their album 'Got Gumption?' and we're hooked!

How is 2010 going so far?

Really good so far, we had a month off for Christmas which I spent seeing family in Australia, now we are back and actually working on lots of new material, Got Gumption? was actually finished at the beginning part of 2009 but we have been sitting on it due to a few other things that were going on in all our lives so we have kept busy by getting used to gigging together and sorting out the live show, we only put the lineup together that we now play as on the 17th July 2009.

Anything you are particularly looking forward to this year?

Just trying to play as many festivals as possible and gig as far and wide as we can, at the moment it looks like we may need to change our name due to a few unforseen circumstances, which will obviously be a bit crap but hopefully we can just come back stronger under a new moniker if that is the case, hopefully the hard work that has bee put in so far can be transferred over.

We loved 'Got Gumption?' By the way, how has it been received by your fans?

I think on the whole it was received well, it was a long time coming to be honest, I have been playing solo for a few years now and this album started as just me and then morphed its way into what you now hear, so it was the first time I had really done anything full band, so it was a really good learning curve.

Do you have a personal favourite on the album?

I think it would have to be classicbox as I like the juxtaposition of the guitar and the beatbox, especially as the beatboxing is quite refrained in comparison to most beat boxing, people assume that beatboxing has to always be in your face but I disagree, although I am sure others will disagree with my viewpoint, I kind of class myself as a beat box outcast to that degree, slightly bastardizing it to some degree.

We were pretty impressed by your beat boxing, how long have you had such an awesome talent?

Guess I started to develop it when I was about 20 or so, kind of just fell into it really, when the words of the song suggested that I could put the beat in as well and it expanded from there.

Will you teach us? Haha.

Start by saying bouncing cats, but emphasis the B and the C and make them short sharp outward consonants and you will get the initial idea, then for a double bass drum put in BaBoons and Cats .

Will you guys be gigging down the south anytime soon?

We are coming down to do a slot on Balcony TV at the beginning of March and hopefully have a few more gigs in the pipeline that we are waiting to get confirmation on.

Do you have any merchandise with just as awesome artwork?

Yeah we have some limited edition stuff through the website and also on our cafe press store, at the moment because we are doing this as an independent band we are trying to use the ease of cafe press to see what designs our fans like and then put them into print ourselves.

Have you been sucked into Twitter yet?

I recently attacked my twitter to only follow people who were posting insightful content that actually benefited what I want to achieve, my personal twitter only has about 10 people I follow, industry folk and the like. The band twitter is as many people as want to follow us really, Only a fool lets technology pass them by but only a fool lets technology control them, its a fine line really.

Oh and we have ask, who would you least like to get stuck in a lift with?

A claustrophobic with an empty prescription bottle and a phobia of other people.

Last but not least, which band member would you say has the most annoying habit? And what is it?

I would say it is probably me, I am (what I imagine) a very annoying morning person, making lots of noise and generally being quite positive, some people don't seem to like that first thing in the morning but I can't really help it, Those first hours in the morning are the most important to me which set me up for the day ahead, so its definitely a habit for me.

Keep it smiley.
