'Wonder Wheel'
Lisa Brigantino...
First things first... I'm loving the artwork of this CD; it feels personalised and unique!Anyway, let's have a look under that cover, and see what Lisa Brigantino has in store for us.
Her first track 'Go and find it' feels a little short, yet I love the pace, its mixture and passion. To say her voice is a gift is probably an understatement! She comes across as powerful, energetic and interesting. Lisa has a great range, and her vocals suit the pace of the first track perfectly. I love the guitar, it is dramatic and builds tension as it nears the end.
Her second track 'Used to be a house' is a fine example of her ability, it shows she can not only write, but perform different material. As there is nothing worse than an album which sounds like the same beat, pace and theme throughout. A good selection is the key!
I could imagine this track coming on the radio, the listener singing as loudly as their lungs will allow whilst they are safe in the knowledge that they can't really hear themselves over the track! It has a catchy beat, and I really like the intro!
This album is a brilliant example of passion, love and determination. You can feel the emotion in her voice, and you can soon tell that she loves what she's doing and is brilliant at doing it. Her tracks differ throughout the album, from a melodic and smooth 'Sarah' which is full of relaxation and perfection; through to a slightly jazzy-er 'A little sympathy' and sugar sweet 'I gotta find me somethin' which just makes you want to sway side to side and sing along!
Although, I have to mention 'The light of your face' which would be well suited in a musical, I'm thinking... a pretty young female sitting gazing at the stars, spilling out her heart and releasing all her feelings. Or is that just me going a step too far?...
I love how this album progresses, it isn't samey, boring, or a task to listen to; it is pretty much beautiful. 'Those days' demonstrates this so well, and 'This town' has a definite kick to it.
As I indulge myself a bit more with her relaxing, soothing voice, I come across more magic such as her track 'Departure' which feels like love in a track; However, the music overpowers her slightly, and she seems a tiny bit lost at times behind the rest of the track.
It seems like a whirlpool of sparkle, paired with pitch perfect vocals and a drive to make a difference. The last few tracks 'The wandering', 'Wonder wheel' and 'I'll see you in my dreams' are all, well, wonders!
Although, I do have to point out 'Motel room in the dangerous part of town' with it's rather long title and story feel, it reminds me of a poem. It is like a diary in a song, it is just lovely.
Actually, lovely is a crap word... I'll go with sophisticated and endearing.
You have to check out what Lisa has to off, and guess what? You can! Clickady-click.
