We had a chat with Meretto, read on if you will...

How is 2009 going for Meretto?

Good, but a very steep learning curve putting out a record yourself. There are all sorts of considerations that pop up on the way that you hadn't thought of. We are also starting to write for another album.

Anything in particular you are looking forward to this year?

I'm really looking forward to our launch party on the 21st November at the Cavendish Arms in Stockwell, London - this is gonna be a good night. Also the Barfly in January!

Any surprises in store for your fans?

We may preview some new tracks over the next few months, so watch this space...

Where do you think you pull the best crowd?

The Barfly or The Borderline.

Is there anywhere you would love to play and haven't as yet?

I went to the Roundhouse the other night to watch Deadmau5 and thought it was a wicked venue - playing there would be very cool. Obviously playing a festival tent with an excellent vibe would be excellent!

Who are your main influences?

Really tricky question that, all sorts. We were kids in the 80s and were growing up when Britpop was big. We definitley like Blur, Cardiacs, Talk Talk, Marillion, Manic Street Preachers. At to moment I am really into Mew, Silversun Pickups and Lady Gaga! Matt's into a lot of things too, including Psytrance at the moment...I think he is threatening to do a Psytrance remix album of the new album :-)

Who would you lovvvvvvvvve to support at a gig?

Mew.

You've just arrived at a gig, what are you most likely to forget?

The proforma sheet for people to sign up to our mailing list (we still have to do this ourselves).

Who would you least like to get stuck in a lift with?

Simon Cowell.

Describe Meretto in three simple words....?

Verbose, ambitious and dynamic.

Are you Myspace fans, or have you gone to the dark side of Twitter?

We do twitter - you can get software that links all the social networking sites to create one big web of deceit ;-)

Anything you would like to add?

Don't forget the album release on the 16th November 2009 - Street Talking at all good download sites!
